Beijing E-Town strives to build a future industrial pilot zone

The scale of future industries in Beijing E-Town is expected to reach 200 billion ($27.69 billion) by 2030,  according to development goals data.

Beijing E-Town has already gathered more than 50 market entities mainly in the aerospace industry. 

Private rocket development enterprises have landed accounts for more than 75 percent nationwide. Besides, among eight models of commercial rockets successfully launched nationwide, six of them are from Beijing E-Town.

Beijing E-Town has focused on the layout of nearly 50 spatial carriers to support future industries, and nine sub-sectors already have a good development foundation.

According to sources, by 2030, Beijing E-Town will form several leading global future industry clusters, build 30 future industry pilot industrial parks, and nurture 300 high-quality future industry enterprises.

Breakthroughs in sub-sectors such as hydrogen energy, general artificial intelligence, and quantum information are accelerating the formation of future industries, and a leap in scientific and technological innovation is also underway. 

The field of humanoid robots is also accelerating its breakthrough. In November 2023, the first provincial-level humanoid robot innovation center in China was established in the area.

"By 2030, Beijing E-Town will form a batch of game-changing technologies and major original achievements, nurturing a group of industry-leading enterprises and unicorn enterprises," said relevant officials from Beijing E-Town.

"Not long ago, Beijing E-Town released a package of 26 projects, 11 platforms, six major actions, and seven major policy lists, laying the groundwork for future industries," a spokesperson for Beijing E-Town said.

The area has launched six major actions through special policies: "escorting" actions, "nesting" actions of characteristic parks, "empowering" actions of industrial funds, "demonstration" actions of application scenarios, "connecting" actions of achievements transformation, and "cultivating" actions of gradient enterprises, to escort the development of future industries and accelerate the emergence of new quality production forces.
