Zhang Qiang, secretary of the Working Committee and head of the "Two Zones" Work Leadership Group of Beijing E-Town, presided over the first plenary session of the "Two Zones" Work Leadership Group of 2024 on May 24, to coordinate the key tasks for this year's "Two Zones" construction.

During the meeting, key points of the "Two Zones" construction work in Beijing E-Town for 2024 were reviewed, and the comprehensive evaluation of national economic development zones, the inclusion of investment promotion projects and the evaluation of institutional innovation cases were deliberated. 

The need to focus on trade and investment facilitation, using high-standard institutional openness as a means to further upgrade the "Two Zones" construction was emphasized at the meeting.

It also stressed that high-quality development in Beijing E-Town should be promoted through high-level opening-up, which calls for the comprehensive implementation of the 2.0 version of the national demonstration zone for greater openness in the services sector. 

To achieve this, the area should focus on technological innovation, digital economy, biomedicine and other areas, and it should launch a series of innovative models and scenarios.

The need to coordinate attracting foreign investment and promoting outbound direct investment, to improve supporting policies and ensure the provision of related services were also highlighted at the meeting.

Additionally, the meeting called for leveraging platforms like the Boao Forum for Asia Global Health Forum, the China International Import Expo and the China International Fair for Trade in Services to amplify E-Town's voice, continuously expanding the influence and recognition of the "Two Zones" construction.
