The winners of the 2024 World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Global Awards have been announced. 

Beijing Healing Innovation Tech, an enterprise based in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, was the sole Chinese company on the list, marking the first time a Beijing-based enterprise has received the honor.

The WIPO Global Awards, presented by the United Nations' World Intellectual Property Organization, recognize companies around the world that have made positive contributions to economic, social and cultural progress through the use of intellectual property. 

This year, judges received 667 applications from 107 countries and regions, with the jury selecting nine winning companies from among the 25 finalists.

Healing Innovation focuses on the research and development of surgical robots and intelligent diagnostic and treatment equipment. It is dedicated to developing leading innovative products in the fields of minimally invasive urological surgery, interventional surgery and natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery. 

The company's success at this year's WIPO awards is mainly down to its independently developed metaFlow™ high-energy water jet autonomous surgical robot.

To date, Healing Innovation has applied for over 80 Chinese and international patents, obtained 20 invention patent authorizations, and applied for eight PCT international patents, establishing an intellectual property portfolio in core product technologies such as imaging navigation technology, robot control technology and water jet generation technology.
