A Singaporean delegation recently visited the Beijing High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone Innovation Operation Center in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town).
As one of the key pillars in building the global digital economy industry in Beijing, numerous innovative achievements have been made in intelligent connected vehicles. During the visit, the delegation learned about and experienced firsthand the advanced autonomous driving application scenarios under the vehicle-road cooperation system.
Since the launch of the world's first vehicle-road-cloud integrated high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone centered in Beijing E-Town in 2020, a 160-square-kilometer of intelligent connected roads and a smart city dedicated network has been developed, demonstrating a wide range of application scenarios including intelligent connected passenger buses, unmanned retail vehicles, unmanned patrol vehicles and unmanned shuttle vehicles.
"Under the vehicle-road cooperation framework, with the help of roadside equipment perception, vehicles can identify pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles crossing the road ahead even if the view is obstructed, achieving 'blind spot perception' to ensure safe driving," introduced by a staff member of the center.
During the test ride on the intelligent connected bus, the delegation used visual display screens to observe real-time urban road conditions, and they discussed their riding experiences with each other and took photos to commemorate the visit.
Singapore has long been committed to autonomous driving and smart city development and has made a series of significant accomplishments. This visit has not only opened a window for the delegation to learn about Beijing E-Town but also effectively promoted deep cooperation between the two sides in the fields of digital economy, smart cities and autonomous driving technology.
