WeRide's Robotaxi is launched on the Uber platform in Abu Dhabi.
WeRide, the world's first listed Robotaxi company, currently has a large-scale autonomous driving fleet and research center in Beijing E-Town and is advancing its overseas expansion.
Its arrival in Abu Dhabi is a crucial step in integrating autonomous driving vehicles into the daily lives of the local population.
Uber users in Abu Dhabi using UberX or Uber Comfort services will now have the opportunity to be matched with WeRide's Robotaxi autonomous driving vehicles, a service available in the core areas of Abu Dhabi.
"We always prioritize the safety of passengers and pedestrians," said Li Xuan, CFO and head of International Business at WeRide.
With over 1,800 days of public operational experience, WeRide has established its service safety and reliability. During the initial phase of the new operation, each autonomous driving vehicle will be equipped with a safety officer to guarantee the safety of passengers and pedestrians. The initiative will also lay the foundation for upgrading to fully unmanned commercial operations by 2025.
This will be the first time for Uber, the world's largest mobile travel and delivery technology company, to have autonomous driving vehicles operating outside the United States.
