Beijing E-Town becomes a leading high-end industrial comprehensive new city

Kong Lei, deputy secretary of the CPC Beijing E-Town Working Committee and director of the Management Committee of the Beijing E-Town introduced the latest development situation of the Economic-Technological Development Area on the "Promoting the High-Quality Development of the Capital Series Theme Press Conference" held on Feb 13 in Beijing.

Kong said, over the past thirty years of development, Beijing E-Town has achieved new results in the development of high-tech industries. In 2024, Beijing E-Town achieved a regional GDP of 364.93 billion yuan ($54.14 billion), with the total industrial output value exceeding 600 billion yuan and fixed asset investment continuously breaking through one trillion yuan. In the latest comprehensive evaluation by the Ministry of Commerce, Beijing E-Town ranked in the top three, maintaining its position in the first echelon of national-level economic development zones.

In addition, reform and innovation in Beijing E-Town have also made new breakthroughs. The area has built the world's first high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone and the country's first new productivity-themed comprehensive protection area. There are 155 "small giant" enterprises, ranking first among national-level economic development zones.

The integration of industry and urban development has presented a new outlook, according to Kong. The high-speed rail station in area has been opened to visitors; high-quality educational, medical care, resources have been established to improve the living standards of the locals.

To achieve the goal of promoting the regional GDP in the area to break through 500 billion yuan by 2030, Kong stated that Beijing E-Town will put efforts on building a modern industrial system with distinctive local characteristics and promoting livelihood projects.

A series of policies that aims to promote local main industries - including AI, humanoid robots and medical care - future industries, as well as talents introduction will be implemented this year.
