Solicitation of urban design for BioPark starts

Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town) recently began the "BioPark Urban Design International Scheme Solicitation" to encourage institutions with rich urban design experience to apply to participate, aiming to build BioPark into a biopharmaceutical innovation hub with international competitiveness.

BioPark, in Beijing E-Town, is expected to be built into a leading and gathering area for international pharmaceutical innovation resources. It will form a pharmaceutical innovation center that radiates and drives the development of the southern area of Beijing. The initiative is very significant for Beijing to extensively participate in the global pharmaceutical and health innovation cooperation network and improve the pharmaceutical and health ecosystem.

By inviting top planning and design teams globally, BioPark aims to solicit urban design proposals with an international perspective, forward-looking positioning and scientifically planned layouts to drive high-quality industrial development through the high-level location.

BioPark is in the western part of Beijing E-Town, adjacent to the south-central axis of Beijing municipality on the west side. The Southern Fifth Ring Road, Beijing-Taipei Expressway and Subway Line 8 cross through the area. It serves as an important industrial section in the comprehensive supporting service area of E-Town and even in the southern region of the capital.

The international proposal solicitation for this project corresponds to three scopes: regional overall research scope, overall urban design scope and key area detailed design scope.

The solicitation is open for international design agencies to participate. Five teams will be selected through pre-qualification screening to engage in the urban design, with a design period of approximately 80 days. Subsequently, three winning design proposals will be selected through expert review, and the hosting and organizing units will comprehensively consider these proposals to select one design proposal.
