Pony.ai, a Chinese self-driving company based in Beijing has unveiled its Robotaxi road testing in Luxembourg, marking an important step in the global deployment of Pony.ai's Robotaxi technology.
Teaming up with the well-known mobility company Emile Weber Pony.ai has rolled out multiple Robotaxis for testing in Luxembourg, starting in Lenningen, and poised to extend to other regions in due course.
Luxembourg serves as a strategic foothold and gateway for Pony.ai's expansion into Europe. The open regulatory environment, well-developed road infrastructure, and highly digitized societal foundation there provide an ideal setting for the implementation of autonomous driving technology.
In this testing initiative, Pony.ai has partnered with the local integrated mobility service provider Emile Weber. Leveraging Emile Weber's local operational expertise and mature transportation network, Pony.ai is supported with scene data to facilitate the rapid deployment of Robotaxi services in Luxembourg. In addition to Emile Weber, Pony.ai is also closely collaborating with several public institutions and commercial partners to jointly establish a framework encompassing technology and policies.
In early April, Pony.ai was granted the first batch of Robotaxi testing permits in Luxembourg. Prior to this, the company had established a European R&D center in Luxembourg with the aim of accelerating innovation in autonomous driving technology and integrating this technology into the next generation of Luxembourg's transportation network.
