Beijing will host two major robotics events next month - the 2025 World Robot Conference (WRC) and the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games. Among them, the World Humanoid Robot Games will be the world's first comprehensive sports competition organized for humanoid robots.
The 2025 WRC will be held from August 8 to 12. During that time, nearly 500 guests from more than 20 countries and regions will gather in Beijing to discuss the new trends in robotics intelligence. Around 200 robotics companies will also showcase their latest research and development achievements.
The 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games will be held from August 14 to 17. The main events will focus on humanoid robot skill competitions, including athletics, soccer, dance, material handling, drug sorting, and other competitive, performance, and scenario events, totaling 21 categories. To date, over a hundred teams have completed registration for the competition online.
The focus of the robotics industry is shifting towards Beijing. The overall robotics industry in Beijing is at the forefront domestically, especially in the emerging field of humanoid robots.
The city's multiple innovation platforms in the field of robotics are accelerating technological breakthroughs. In Haidian district, the Beijing Medical Robotics Industry Innovation Center has nurtured over 20 medical robotics projects; in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, the first domestic humanoid robot innovation center has been upgraded to a national-local co-built center for intelligent humanoid robot innovation, driving the acceleration of breakthroughs in key technologies of robot bodies such as long-term stable operation and control, as well as common embodied intelligence technologies like long-term thinking, generalized execution, real-time error correction, and reflection.
Meanwhile, Beijing has focused on the core pain point of high-quality embodied data in the industry, initiating the construction of an open and shared Beijing Embodied Intelligent Data Coordination Service Platform to address challenges such as unified data collection standards and interoperability of heterogeneous data sets, serving embodied intelligent robot enterprises nationwide. Simultaneously, efforts have been organized to carry out key technological breakthroughs in low-cost and efficient data collection, automated data labeling, and robot autonomous reinforcement learning data. They’re exploring real-scenario operational data collection modes, and establishing a high-quality data service infrastructure with a "data collection - model training - capability evaluation" full-process closed-loop for high-quality data services.
In response to the challenges faced in the large-scale production of humanoid robots, such as standardization of components, standardization of assembly processes, normalization of testing systems, and automation of production equipment, Beijing has initiated the construction of the Beijing Humanoid Robot Intelligent Manufacturing Pilot Verification Platform. Leveraging the abundant resources in intelligent manufacturing in Beijing, this platform aims to explore standards and key technologies related to large-scale production of humanoid robots, taking into account the characteristics of the industrial development stage.
Beijing is positioning robots as the next disruptive product following computers, smartphones, and new energy vehicles.
