CAS Space, a Beijing E-Town-based commercial rocket producer, successfully delivered seven satellites into their designated orbits in its Kinetica 1 series on Tuesday. This marks the 12th successful launch of the "E-Town rocket" this year, with its international market expanding to North America.
As of now, the Kinetica 1 series has delivered a total of 70 satellites into their designated orbits with precision.
In this launch mission, the Kinetica 1 series rocket achieved integrated assembly, testing, and launch for the first time, significantly reducing the overall assembly and launch preparation cycle of the rocket.
CAS Space has made technical breakthroughs to tackle cost challenges by reducing the rocket’s weight and increasing its payload capacity.
"Through weight reduction measures, we have increased the payload capacity by nearly 100 kg. At a cost of $10,000 per kilogram of payload, this translates to savings of over 5 million yuan ($695,630) per launch," explained Shi Xiaoning, the chief designer of the Kinetica 1 series rocket.
According to Hu Xiaowei, the chief commander of the Kinetica 1 series, "The successful launch of the Mexican satellite this time signifies the international expansion of China's commercial space industry, injecting new vitality and competitiveness into the global space launch market".
As a groundbreaking collaboration between China and Mexico in the field of complete satellite systems, this project marks a milestone breakthrough for China's space industry in the North American commercial market. The successful implementation of the project will deepen China-Mexico technological cooperation and make a significant contribution to establishing a fair, open, and inclusive new paradigm for international space cooperation.
Moving forward, the Kinetica 1 series rocket will focus on maintaining flight reliability while leveraging accumulated flight data and additional ground test validations to release some design margins and make localized design optimizations. The plan includes increasing payload capacity through system weight reduction, reducing procurement costs via product self-development and supply chain optimization, and enhancing launch mission adaptability through algorithm and software optimization, all aimed at continuously improving the market competitiveness of the Kinetica 1 series.
Beijing E-Town is fully supporting enterprises in "going global" to expand into overseas markets, actively participating in the global aerospace industry division and cooperation and continuously enhancing the international competitiveness and influence of the local commercial aerospace companies.
