IBA launches Asia-Pacific HQ, boosting E-Town investment appeal

Ion Beam Applications S.A. (IBA), a global leader in particle accelerator technology, recently inaugurated its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Beijing E-Town. This marks a new phase in IBA's development in the Asia-Pacific region.

"The headquarters will not only serve as an administrative hub but also as a strategic center with three core missions: a manufacturing and innovation center, a regional collaboration and empowerment center, and a customer support and service center," said Olivier Legrain, IBA's global CEO.

The establishment of IBA's Asia-Pacific headquarters in Beijing E-Town is a key move in deepening its presence in the Chinese market and optimizing its regional strategic layout. It will also inject new momentum into technological breakthroughs in precision medicine and the transformation and upgrading of high-end manufacturing in China.

As a leading company in the global radiation technology field, IBA's core businesses encompass two main areas: healthcare and industrial innovation.

In the healthcare sector, IBA is a major global supplier of proton therapy systems, with its equipment having provided precise treatment for over 140,000 cancer patients worldwide. Its dosimetry systems also offer critical support for clinical precision diagnosis and treatment. In the field of industrial innovation, IBA's radiopharmaceutical solutions are widely used in the design, construction, and operation of nuclear medicine departments and drug distribution centers. They also play a significant role in medical device sterilization and polymer performance enhancement, helping companies continuously improve product quality and production safety.

Notably, at the recent 2025 International Biomedical Industry Innovation Conference Beijing Forum, Beijing E-Town welcomed the establishment of seven leading foreign enterprises: Johnson & Johnson, Bristol Myers Squibb, Merck, Siemens, GE Healthcare, Philips, and Astellas. With IBA now also making a strategic move here, it further highlights Beijing E-Town's strong appeal to foreign companies.

Olivier Legrain stated, "As the main hub of Beijing's substantial economy, Beijing E-Town brings together a top-tier ecosystem of biomedicine and cutting-edge industries, which aligns perfectly with IBA's position as a global leader in particle accelerator technology. More importantly, it offers a first-class business environment and a pragmatic, efficient service team."

As of now, Beijing E-Town has established a dynamic hub for foreign enterprises, combining "headquarters + R&D + manufacturing" functions. It hosts over 1,530 foreign-funded companies from 67 countries and regions, with 109 R&D centers, accounting for 40 percent of the city's total.

Beijing E-Town remains committed to offering detailed policy guidance and support to help businesses leverage foreign investment opportunities and policy advantages.
