Overseas Chinese talent conference connects wisdom and capital

The plenary session of the 2025 Beijing Overseas Chinese Talent Conference for Development was held in the Beijing E-Town on Wednesday.

The conference, themed "Gather Overseas Chinese Wisdom, Enlighten the Future," brought together government representatives, international scholars, and overseas Chinese elites to discuss pathways for technological collaboration and innovative development.

During the policy promotion segment, the conference introduced "Several Measures to Further Support Innovation and Entrepreneurship Among Young Talent (Trial)." This initiative includes 10 specific measures focusing on housing security, innovation and entrepreneurship, and government services, providing robust support for young talent to establish themselves in Beijing.

To facilitate the implementation of innovative achievements, multiple signing ceremonies took place at the conference, marking the official establishment of several overseas Chinese innovation projects in Beijing. These projects span cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, biomedicine, and new materials. Additionally, 12 overseas Chinese associations and technology incubators signed cooperation agreements with Beijing Yizhuang Investment Holdings Limited, aiming to connect Beijing with global innovation resources.

In the keynote speech section, Zhou Ji, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a professor at Tsinghua University's School of Materials Science and Engineering, delivered a speech focusing on new materials and technologies. Meanwhile, Xiao Zhiguo, the chief scientist of Huaxia SmartChip Photonics Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., discussed solid-state lighting technology and semiconductor chips, exploring their strategic value and application prospects in major national industries.

As the host location, Beijing E-Town continues to strengthens policy guidance, platform services, and global resource connections, aiming to build a globally influential hub for future industries.

More than 600 participants attended, including leaders from provincial and municipal federations of overseas Chinese, overseas Chinese academicians, experts, scholars, and representatives of high-tech enterprises and overseas Chinese community organizations. Concurrently, eight industry dialogues, six project roadshows, and various visits activities were held to promote the deep integration of overseas Chinese resources into the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
